What is Transitions?

The Transitions Community is for first year students who are comfortable with living an independent lifestyle in on campus apartment housing, and is located in the Cerro Vista Apartments. It is designed to help foster and enhance residents’ personal and academic growth and assist with their transition to Cal Poly. Residents will gain the resources to start them towards the goal of completing their degree in 4 years.  In order to reach these goals, the Community Advisor staff will plan programs that will provide a fun and creative way for residents to begin acquiring these skills.

Living at Cerro Vista Apartments

The Cerro Vista Apartments have common living spaces with private and shared bedrooms, allowing each student to transition in to a self-sufficient lifestyle. First-time freshmen students assigned to Apartments are required to have a meal plan even though the Apartments have a full-size kitchen. Transfer students and continuing Cal Poly students living in Apartments are not required to have a meal plan.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in programs and activities that support their  positive academic transition while living in an environment providing social and educational  activities that highlight independent living.
